I accidentally cycled through the animation on one of the towers and didn't realize that I hadn't scanned everything yet, then I was wondering how I was expected to find some of the words, etc. Having everything on the map right off means less traversal later. Unlock the towers early on before going after collectibles.I don't normally like to go depth first into an upgrade tree unless it's something I'm specializing in, but this really is a big quality-of-life improvement, and points are plentiful. Push through early on to get the upgrade that auto-collects drops. Most of the early tips I've seen about how to approach this game have proven to be solid: Some of the animations in this game wear out their welcome (interrogating worms), but it's nowhere near as bad as Mad Max. I get that it's trying to get you to approach the fights in a certain way, but it really breaks the sense of flow to have stabbed the same grunt 20 times and never killed him just because you could never get all the way through the gratuitous combo animation. What bugs me about arkham-derived combat engines is that you can get into a loop where you're in the process of finishing a downed enemy, interrupt to block, and have to restart the whole animation afterwards. I just dominated my first captain, and I could watch a (very black humored) show just about him great performances. The game seems sprawling and may or may not end up living up to its scale, but the orc-killing is as polished as ever, and the little vignettes as different captains make an over-the-top WWE-style entrance never cease to amuse. Then go back and do all the collections quests and captain hunting. I really really need to advance the main plot until I get dominate. I chose that moment to embrace the teachings of Bold Sir Robin. Just as I start thinking about how to approach this guy now that I can't vault him, I hear "Man filth!" Another pop up "Adapted!" And now he has Vault Breaker. This guy also has a shield so I'm vaulting repeatedly to get behind him to land a few hits before he turns again. Yeah, poison is his thing and he doesn't think highly of my amateurish attempts. Maybe two minutes later, I get an "Ambushed" pop up as a captain jumps me from behind and says "You used four times the dose you needed to! Haven't you ever heard of supersaturation?" And his title was "the Venomous." Immune to poison and poisoned weapon. I'm not really trying to clear the area or anything, just passing through, but it was there. So, I'm creeping around the arena in Minas Ithil and I pass by a grog barrel and poison it for funzies. I finished all but 1 side challenge in Shadow of Mordor, and that's because I tried it like 20 times and gave up. I get the feeling that if you mainline plot you'll end up short, but if you take your time and hunt captains for fun and do collection quests, you'll probably be ok. This isn't Andromeda, but the characters do all appear a bit stiff.Ĭhances are someone else here will get to the endgame before me, so please do report back on the grind to unlock without real money, because they're not getting a cent from me for loot boxes. But this is LOTR fanfiction, and in that context I'm completely ok with that.Īlso I think Witcher 3 has spoiled me on facial animations in any other game. A lot of people are going to despise her because she was never shown as having a smoking hot human form during the books. Sauron needs to be secure in his power for the events of the books to take place.Īlso, Shelob is awesome. I don't see how this game can have a "happy" ending - and it really shouldn't. It seemed to work for Talion during the first game, but that's not going to continue. To use Sauron's own army against him is asking for trouble. Tolkien signals, repeatedly throughout his works, that to use the tools of the enemy is to become a tool of the enemy.
